This winning combination of a highly competent fishing crew and a lodge located in pristine Alaska make for a trip you will never forget. Lodging- The owners of the Port Ashton Lodge, Randy and Lia Talvi, purchased an old Cannery on Evans Island located in the southwest corner of Prince William Sound. The lodge, located in Sawmill Bay, is set in one of the most pristine Alaskan locations you will ever see. It also happens to be within about ½ and hour to 45 minutes from some of our favorite fishing spots. At the lodge you will meet the owners, get comfortable in your own cabin and then enjoy a wonderful meal while the charter crew filets your catch of the day. You will then choose to relax in a huge saltwater hot-tub on the beach, snag Humpies or Pink Salmon running into the small creek right off the boat dock, view black bears possibly feeding on the same school of salmon you are snagging or just relax and enjoy the scenery and the peace of remote Alaska. The following morning you will enjoy a wonderful breakfast and then prepare for another day of fishing the Gulf of Alaska and or Prince William Sound for Halibut, Ling-cod, Salmon and or Rock Fish. You will be met at the dock when leaving the lodge with a warm goodbye and a packed lunch that is unbelievable. You will find it difficult to leave the lodge as the place is beautiful and the Talvi’s are the kind of people you feel have been your lifelong friends upon meeting them.
Fishing- The overnight trips will include two days of Combo Fishing. By far the most popular booking at Seward Adventure Charters is our Combo Trip. Our Combo Trip typically begins with Halibut fishing for the first portion of the day. Once we are done with Halibut fishing we will move to another location, usually, target Salmon, Lingcod or Rockfish. The most frequent Combo Trip will target Halibut and Salmon although that is flexible upon the desires of the client as well as the knowledge of the fishery and the choice of the captain. At times the captain will choose to change to either Lingcod or Rockfish if he knows that the Salmon run is not currently successful. Although this is really rare (almost all Combo Trips are Halibut and Salmon) it is possible that the captain will find it necessary to adjust the species. Our Combination Trips are so popular because our clients are usually interested in battling both Halibut and Salmon and taking some of each home with them for their tables. We like to consider our Combo Trips as a Smorgasbord of fishing as we occasionally catch Halibut, Salmon, Lingcod and Rockfish on these trips. It is very exciting to see so many different species of fish coming up on these trips. Our overnight trips allow our clients more time fishing and less time running in the boat. Our favorite fishing grounds are close to the lodge but about a two hour boat ride from Seward. Although this boat ride provides beautiful scenery, coastal mountains, glaciers and abundant wildlife to view you will see this scenery while fishing both days anyway. The bonus is the two hours that would be spent running back to Seward the first afternoon and out to fishing grounds the second morning will be spent relaxing at the lodge and or fishing.
