Prince William Sound Hunting Trips

Seward Adventure Charters, LLC is a licensed Big Game Transporter providing transportation from Whittier or Seward to Prince William Sound. Most transports are to hunt Black Bears and Sitka Blacktail Deer. As a Transporter I will take you and your gear out to the sound to the location of your choice and will pick you up and drop you off in Whittier or Seward on the designated date and location of pick up.

These hunts are designed for the experienced hunter or the adventurous that want to research areas and hunt on their own. Spring hunts can be set up where you can be transported to your choice hunting location and then to lodging within the sound that you set up with the owners of the lodge. Typical rates for the lodging are $130 per night per person. You can also choose to “rough it” and stay on the island of your choice. You will be responsible for your gear and necessities. Black Bear Hunting in Prince William Sound is very good and success rates are fairly high. Some hunters choose not to take a bear do to personal size restrictions they have set for themselves.

Black Bear hunting is offered spring and fall, generally from May 7th - June 10th and September 1st - October 10th.

Black Bear Hunting Rates

Black Bear Hunting Rates are $300 per person per trip with a minimum of 4 clients or $1,200 per day. Typically two trips are required but due to size of group, amount of gear or game the number of trips can increase. The price includes transportation from Whittier or Seward (depending on where boat is moored) to Prince William Sound, and use of Dingy to get to and from shore. Sales tax and U.S. Forest Service user fees are additional. Prices do not include hunting license, big game tags, skinning, or processing of game. Transporters cannot assist in any way with the hunt, processing of the game, or planning of the hunt.

Weather is a factor that must be considered. You may not be able to get to your location of choice and you should be prepared with altrernate locations. You should also be prepared to spend extra days at the end of your trip if weather delays your pick up. Please include in your gear a Sat Phone so we can plan communications.

Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunting

Prince William Sound has many islands with Sitka Blacktail deer. As a Transporter I will take you and your gear out to the sound to the location of your choice and will pick you up and drop you off in Whittier or Seward on the designated date and location of pick up. Sitka Blacktail deer are very tasty and can dress out up to around 200 pounds although usually smaller. Limit is four deer per year for non-residents and 5 for Alaska residents. Either sex hunting begins October 1st.

Deer Hunting Season in Prince William Sound is August 1-December 31.  Hunts will be scheduled and run weather permitting.
